Focus is a 2015 American action thriller film written and directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, and starring Will Smith and Margot Robbie. The film tells the story of Nicky (Smith), a con man, who meets and falls in love with Jess (Robbie). He decides to change his lifestyle for her; however, when Jess's boss turns out to be Nicky's former partner in crime, he is forced to do one last big con to get out of the game for good. In January 2014, Gerald McRaney joined the cast as Frank Rossitano, an ex-con who is now a real estate developer with political connections. In February 2014, Adrian Martinez joined the cast as a henchman for an organized crime boss. Filming began in the Atlanta area on March 13, 2014. Before filming began, Smith spent several months learning how to pickpocket and con people using various scams. Filming also took place in New Orleans at locations including St. Louis Cathedral.
